The listening section of the CET6 is usually divided into three parts: basic knowledge, key sentences and audio recordings. Basic knowledge consists of questions that test students' understanding of words and phrases. The key sentence part asks students to complete sentences with phrases given by the questions. Audio recordings test students' listening capacity, in which they have to grasp the main ideas from the materials heard. The topics of these materials vary from social phenomenons to commercial activities.
